Sean Kingston Arrested on Charges of Grand Theft and Fraud
Renowned musician Sean Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, is currently incarcerated at the Broward County Jail. He faces serious charges, including grand theft and participating in an organized scheme to defraud. Kingston did not contest his extradition from California and returned to Florida willingly after being arrested on a Broward Sheriff’s Office warrant. He was transported to Broward County on Sunday.
Kingston’s legal issues began with a raid on his rented home in Southwest Ranches in late May. During the raid, authorities seized several items, including a Cadillac Escalade. The accusations against Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, include the theft of jewelry, money, and furniture. One significant allegation is that Kingston failed to pay for a $150,000 entertainment system.
The charges against Kingston are extensive. They include:
• Organized scheme to defraud over $50,000
• Criminal use of personal identification information over $50,000
• Grand theft between $20,000 and $100,000
• Issuing insufficient funds checks over $150
• Grand theft over $100,000
• Probation violation
The total bond amount for these charges is set at $100,000.
Earlier this year, Kingston faced another legal battle when a company sued him in February for not paying for merchandise.
During the recent raid, Turner was also arrested, with video footage showing her in handcuffs outside the home. She faces multiple counts of theft and fraud. Both Turner and Kingston have prior felony convictions.
In response to the raid and arrests, Kingston posted on Instagram, “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! … My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
